Welcome to the Village of New York Mills connection to the Internet. The goal of this Website is to provide you with a source of information regarding the Village Departments, Services and Organizations that are available to you. All of the Village Officials and Employees are strongly committed and dedicated to providing the most effective service to the community. Since its incorporation in 1922, the Village of New York Mills has maintained a high quality of life for its residents. Together with our neighboring Communities, we are able to offer our people with a wide array of retail stores and restaurants while balancing that with both modern and historic neighborhoods. Our village is also home to four churches, offers a public transportation system, and has a second to none school district. I hope that you find our website helpful and informative. Just a Reminder:
Green Waste Collection will begin on Monday April 2nd, 2012. Please put your green waste out Sunday night atfer 6 PM.
Heavy Trash Collection will begin on Thursday March 29th, 2012 and continue the last Thursday of each month until October 25, 2012. As of January 1, 2012 the Village is no longer able to collect any small electronics, TVs, microwaves, computers, etc. Please see the following notice from Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority.
Beginning January 1, 2012, please note the following Electronic Waste Requirements for Solid/Hazardous Waste Facilities and Hauler/Transporters "New York State law requires manufacturers to take responsibility for recycling many types of electronic equipment they have produced, such as computers, computer peripherals, televisions, small scale servers, and small electronic equipment, etc. Manufacturers now provide free and convenient acceptance programs for NYS consumers to properly reuse and recycle their waste electronic equipment. Beginning January 1, 2012, with the exception of individual and household consumers, all other NYS consumers including businesses, private or public corporations, not for profit corporations and government entities, etc. may not dispose of, or place for collection intended for disposal, electronic waste (such as computers, computer peripherals, televisions, small scale servers, and small electronic equipment, etc.) at a solid or hazardous waste management facility in the state. Beginning January 1, 2015, this disposal ban will apply to all persons in the state, including individual and household consumers. Consumers should visit the NYS Department of Environmental Conservations website at http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/66872.html, for a full list of the types of electronic equipment covered by this law and to learn how they may properly manage their electronic waste in an environmentally responsible manner." New Pick-Up Schedule Effective July 5, 2011
Starting Tuesday July 5th, 2011 the new weekly Highway Department Pick-up Schedule will be as follows: Monday - Green Waste Collection Tuesday - Garbage Collection for the entire Village Wednesday - Recyclable collection for the entire Village Thursday - Heavy Waste collection the last Thursday of each month from March through October
